CCR Rule Groundwater Sampling

AGES Energy has over 100 years of combined environmental experience with a focus on groundwater and surface water monitoring projects. Over the past several years, AGES Energy’s staff members have conducted routine monitoring and sampling programs that have included over 500 wells and a myriad of constituents. Our staff routinely performs groundwater sampling using a broad range of techniques, which include low flow, traditional bailing and submersible pumps. Our highly trained staff is experienced in maintaining field documentation and following quality assurance/quality control procedures to comply with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements.

The Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) Rule requires measurement of total recoverable metals concentrations without field filtering of samples. The results of which are directly affected by the turbidity of the samples collected. By using a combination of custom-designed, pre-packaged well screens and following U.S. EPA guidelines for low flow sampling, AGES Energy has consistently collected groundwater samples with turbidities less than 5 Nephelometric Turbidity Units (NTUs) from CCR unit wells up to depths of 280 feet below ground surface.

Additionally, AGES Energy has a fleet of field vehicles equipped with 4-wheel-drive and crossover utility vehicles, which allows our sampling crews to access sites in most locations and conditions. With AGES Energy’s detail-oriented staff and staffing flexibility, we are able to provide top rate service and manage sampling programs for both private clients and major utility companies.
